The Council for Technology in Education in partnership with NMSTE and Innovate-Educate NM is requesting participation from your district's students, teachers, administrators, and parents in the 2009 Speak Up online survey for the purpose of gathering statewide and local information. Speak Up is an annual national research project facilitated by Project Tomorrow. The purpose of the project is to:
• Collect and report unfiltered feedback from students, parents and teachers on key educational issues.
• Use data to stimulate local conversations.
• Raise awareness about the importance of including the viewpoints of students, parents, and teachers in the education dialogue.
Districts and schools with the highest rate of participation will receive prizes!
Wide spread participation is encouraged to advance technology at state & local levels. Your participation is an invaluable contribution!
2. Select the survey that fits who you are… Student, Parent, or Teacher & Administrators
3. Select "New Mexico” as your state, and find your school by entering the first few letters of the school name
4. Click on your school to begin the survey
5. If needed, type in "tigers” as the Secret Word (password)

• Note: Districts with the highest participation rates will receive special recognition at a sponsored community event
Districts complete in 4 different size categories (small, medium, larger, larger)

About Speak Up 2009
Online surveys will be open for input from October 19th through December 18th.
Surveys are available for the following audiences:
K-12 students (grade appropriate
surveys), Parents, Teachers, Principals and District Administrators, and Pre-service Teachers
enrolled in post-secondary degree programs (new this year!)
Speak Up is open to all K-12 schools, districts and schools of education. There is no fee to
participate, or limit on the number of respondents. All information is 100% confidential. The surveys
take less than 20 minutes to complete.
Participating institutions receive a free online report aggregating all local data with national data to use
for comparative benchmarking. Reports available in early February 2010.
Survey question topics include: learning and teaching with technology, 21st century skills, science
and math instruction, career exploration, emerging technologies (such as Web 2.0, mobile devices,
online learning and digital content), professional development, school-to-home communications, and
investment recommendations for 21st century schools.
Use Speak Up data to: inform plans for ARRA funding, engage your community in new initiatives,
advocate for national and state policies & funding, learn about your students’ ideas.
